Forelsket: A Norwegian Word for the Magical State of Falling in Love
I bet we'd give anything to have this feeling every day.
I want you to close your eyes and join me in a dream. I swear it won't take more than two minutes. But it will be worth your time.
Close your eyes; this is critical because we need to get in the mood.
I'll tell the story from a woman's perspective, but if you're a man, you may play the part of our dream's hero.
Let’s begin.
Consider yourself at the beach when you are 18 years old. You're wearing a bikini with thin strings, the sun is warming you, yet a gentle breeze caresses your skin and your hair flutters in the breeze. You're at a little beach party, sipping a cocktail, laughing and chatting with your friends, and the summer's most popular songs are playing in the background.
A newcomer introduces himself, someone you've never met before, at the nicest moment of the celebration. He's a tall, muscular man with brown hair and green eyes. He exudes such a captivating aura that you get the impression that all the girls are staring at him.
This god-like stunner man somehow approaches to your group and spontaneously joins your chat. Throughout the night, you're sipping cocktails and dancing with this gorgeous foreigner. You're rising above the clouds. That day will certainly be remembered.
Moreover, you exchange phone numbers at the end of the party. You are all together while sunbathing on the beach, surfing and evening parties. You're in love, and it doesn't matter what happens next, or who that person is. It is one of the highest emotions a person can experience.
Now you may either open your eyes or continue to dream.
Forelsket is the name given to that euphoric feeling.
You've most likely experienced a summer crush like this one at some time. Even though you did not live, you may now imagine what a magical experience it would be if it was possible.
I'm not sure why such a word exists, especially in Norwegian. But I have an idea. There are possibly too many such loves in northern countries, where tall, blue-eyed, slim, and wonderfully attractive women and men live. It is, of obviously, necessary.
We are pretty lucky to have Forelsket on Earth.
