Jijivisha: Intense Desire to Live the Life to the Fullest - Hindi
On our relationship with life, the value of a positive approach and the meaning of life
An anecdote from the Peanuts Movie is widely shared. We're not sure if it was said, but we accept it as true because we'd rather it be true. I also like it because Charlie Brown and Snoopy, two of my favorite characters, said it.
Charlie Brown says, "You only live once, Snoopy."
And Snoopy says, "Wrong! We only die once. We live every day!"
Life is, in fact, a whole made up of small parts. Every new day, week, month, or year, we have a new opportunity to choose new ways of life; it all depends on our perspective.
There are few things in which we have an up-and-down relationship like living. Life is something that we need like crazy but also hate inside and actually fear losing.
When we hear a beautiful song, our love for life fills us with zeal, and it seems to last forever. On the contrary, when our lover abandons us, life becomes a goddamn thing. Living is a blessing if we are happy; if we are unhappy, it is a curse. Despite its wealth, this is everyday life.
Jijivisha in Hindi means joy of living. In a broader sense, it is a strong desire to live life to the fullest.
Whether we are Buddhists, Christians, Jews, or Muslims, or we do not believe in God, life stands in the middle of every philosophy. Because it is the most real, tangible, and directly related phenomenon to people. All of them bless life, aim to enrich it, and make it meaningful.
Although making life meaningful is not easy in practice, its rules are determined in many philosophies or religions. If we count them here, I am sure that no one will be unfamiliar.
However, knowing and applying are never the same thing. Although we know as much as an expert what we need to do to lose weight, it is not easy for us to take action to live life meaningfully and happily, just as we rarely say no to chocolate cake. But everything starts with a step, with a choice. For me, the first step to living life energetically is to choose to be positive.
Looking at life positively and choosing to live every day positively or not is the biggest decision we make in life, the most critical choice. I explained this in detail in Choosing A Positive Attitude Towards Life is the Best Favor for Ourselves. I'm trying to implement it myself.
But I don't mean toxic positivity. In other words, trying to smile even when someone close to us dies is not positivity contrary to the nature and virtues of being human, such as trying to draw a positive result even from that situation.
What I mean is consciously choosing to be "constructive". To create favorable conditions for the realization of the best possibilities at our disposal. To be filled with Jijivishu.
This subject is so broad that I leave it here for now to reflect on it and look at it from different angles in the coming weeks.
