Gulsun, thank you for writing this piece. I recently subscribed to @elle griffin. After reading a few posts, I wanted to revisit More’s Utopia. Thank you for doing the heavy lifting.🌱
Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my essay. I enjoy and appreciate Elle's newsletter; such efforts remind us that hope is still alive somewhere, maybe in our souls. I'll also read some of Elle's recommendations that I mentioned in the Notes & Reads section. More utopias, more consciousness for a positive future!
Do you know Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson’s work? She co-edited All We Can Save. (Interview On Being, Ted Talk etc). Her next book is along the lines of: what if we get this right. 🌱
This is so beautiful! I agree that it's such a perfect time to be thinking about these things. With war on the horizon, maybe there's something we can create that's better, beautiful even. Maybe it's worth creating new dreams.
I too love this word and all of it's connotations, thank you for exploring it!
Thank you! I enjoy reading your essays and find it worthwhile that you've built a burrow on the internet to collectively ponder the possibilities of a better world. Dreaming is an indispensable human trait and perhaps the most useful one, promising hope and strength. So we'd best keep being brave and hopeful enough to imagine new dreams.
A beautiful word, also a hopeful one for all of us in this current antihumanitarian situation. Everyday news is a depressing horror show, and amidst that thanks for sharing a positive word. :) Hope and pray that there is peace in the immediate future. 🙏
Finding beauty or a way to stay positive about the future is the only tool to go ahead. This is what I've learned from life so far. So, still, I resist losing hope for peace. Thank you :)
